Market Harborough

Market Harborough is a pretty market town on the Northamptonshire/Leicestershire border. I pass this town on my regular journeys between Kenilworth and Cambridge, and call in when I have time. The central feature of the town is the tall spire of St Dionysius parish church (so tall it disappears out the top of my painting!), and the church stands alongside the Old Grammar School, a beautiful 17th century timber framed building which has become the symbol of the town. It is a bustling, lively place with lovely Georgian buildings lining the North end of the High Street.

There are other pretty aspects to explore, including the Union Wharf, the wonderful factory building now used as council offices and the once famous hunting territory used by the Fernie Hunt. I hope to get round to painting these when my busy schedule allows.
